RED PEPPER CHUTNEY/ CAPSICUM CHUTNEY

                   Tired of the same boring chutneys to serve with dosas and idlis?? Try this healthy red pepper chutney. Sure to be a hit at home!!:)





INGREDIENTS:
1 big red capsicum/ red pepper, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1 dried red chilli (or more depending on your taste)
 1 tsp ulundhu/ urad dal
2-3 garlic pods
1 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
1 small piece tamerind (size of a small clove of garlic)
salt

to temper:
1.5 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp urad dal/ ulundhu
1 stem curry leaves


PROCESS:
  • In a wok, heat 1 tbsp oil and the garlic. saute.
  • Add the urad dal and chilli. After a few seconds add the onions and saute.
  • After the onions soften, add the capsicum.
  • saute for a few mins. Add the salt
  • Add the coriander leaves. saute. switch off the flame and add the tamerind and stir.

  • After it cools, blend it with just a tiny bit of water. (just enough to allow the blender to do its work)
  • Put the capsicum chutney in a samall bowl.
  • In a another pan, heat 1 tbsp oil.  Add the mustard seeds and urad dal. Allow it to pop
  • Add the currry leaves and switch off the flame
  • Now, add this to the chutney and serve with dosas/ idlis
